Introduction
The Steca Tarom MPPT 6000-M is an award-winning professional MPPT solar charge controller featuring two independent MPP trackers, 60A charge current, and advanced support for lead-acid, lithium-ion, and NiCd batteries — serving as the master unit capable of controlling up to 22 Tarom MPPT 6000-S slave units via StecaLink bus.
General Description
The Steca Tarom MPPT 6000-M is the flagship solar charge controller in the Steca range, setting new standards in maximum power point tracking efficiency. As the master unit of the Tarom MPPT system, it combines exceptional performance with comprehensive energy management capabilities. Two fully independent MPP trackers — each with its own input — allow different PV module arrays to be connected and tracked simultaneously and independently, maximising energy harvest even with partial shading, different panel orientations, or mixed module types. The wide input voltage range of up to 200V Voc accommodates virtually all commercial solar module configurations.
The 6000-M master communicates with up to 22 Tarom MPPT 6000-S slave units via the StecaLink bus, providing centralised monitoring, data logging, and system control from a single unit. The comprehensive 20-year data logger with MicroSD card slot records all minute-by-minute values for both inputs independently, with daily, monthly, and annual totals displayed graphically on the backlit multifunction LCD. Three independently programmable multifunctional contacts enable deep discharge protection (LVD), automatic generator start/stop, surplus load management, and day/evening/night switching functions. The 6000-M is the first charge controller in the world to achieve a field-measured conversion efficiency of 99%, winning both the prestigious Intersolar Award 2014 and the OTTI Innovation Award 2014. Compatible with lead-acid (gel/liquid), lithium-ion, and NiCd batteries. Made in EU, CE and RoHS certified
World-First 99% Efficiency & Double Award Winner
The Tarom MPPT 6000-M is the first charge controller in the world to achieve a field-measured DC-DC conversion efficiency of 99.4% — winning both the Intersolar Award 2014 and the OTTI Innovation Award 2014. With static MPP efficiency of 99.9% and dynamic MPP efficiency of 99.8% (DIN EN 50530), it extracts significantly more energy from the same PV array compared to any standard MPPT controller.
Master Control for up to 22 Slave Units
As the 6000-M master, this unit provides centralised management, monitoring, and data logging for up to 22 Tarom MPPT 6000-S slave units connected via the StecaLink bus. A single 6000-M master can oversee a combined system of up to 23 charge controllers — dramatically simplifying large-scale off-grid system management, monitoring, and maintenance from one central point.
Advanced Multi-Battery & Multi-Function Support
The 6000-M supports lead-acid (gel and liquid), lithium-ion (all chemistries), and NiCd batteries — making it future-proof as battery technology evolves. Three independently configurable multifunctional contacts enable programmable deep discharge protection, automatic generator start/stop, surplus energy load switching, and day/evening/night lighting functions with four freely programmable weekly timers.
