Introduction

The Steca Solarix PRS 1515 is a cost-effective PWM solar charge controller delivering 15A charge and load current for 12V or 24V systems — offering 50% more current capacity than the PRS 1010 in the same compact housing, while maintaining the same attractive price point and simple LED display interface.

General Description

The Steca Solarix PRS 1515 delivers the same proven Steca PWM charging performance and protection features as the PRS 1010 — serial MOSFET topology, multistage charging, current-compensated load disconnection, five multi-colour LEDs, and ultra-low own consumption of less than 4mA — while increasing both charge and load current capacity to 15A to support larger PV panel arrays and battery systems.
At 15A, the PRS 1515 supports up to 180W of PV panels in a 12V system or 360W in a 24V system, making it suitable for medium-sized solar home systems, small commercial applications, agricultural installations, and off-grid sites with higher energy demands. The multistage charging algorithm — including boost at 14.4V, equalisation at 14.7V, and float at 13.9V — ensures thorough and efficient battery charging under all conditions. Current-compensated load disconnection adjusts the deep discharge protection threshold based on actual load current, providing more accurate battery protection than fixed-voltage methods. The wide -25°C to +50°C operating temperature range and less than 4mA own consumption make the PRS 1515 an excellent choice for hot climate and remote off-grid deployments. Optional evening and night light functions and full parameter adjustability via the Steca PA RC100 allow the controller to be configured for automatic lighting control and project-specific requirements. This makes it the natural choice when a system outgrows a 10A controller, offering a cost-effective capacity upgrade without changing the mounting, wiring infrastructure, or product brand.

Reliable Battery Protection in Hot Climates

With an operating range of -25°C to +50°C and self-consumption below 4mA, the PRS 1515 is engineered for reliability in the extreme ambient temperatures common in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia — where conventional controllers may overheat or drain batteries through excessive self-consumption. The current-compensated LVD provides accurate deep discharge protection regardless of the load profile.

Configurable for Night Light and Project-Specific Needs

For solar street lighting, garden lighting, security systems, and other project-specific applications, the PRS 1515 can be factory pre-configured with a night light function or field-programmed via the optional Steca PA RC100 remote control — allowing adjustment of LVD, LVR, charge termination voltage, equalisation charge, and battery type to match any project requirement.
