Introduction

The Steca Solsum 0808F is the mid-range model of Steca’s globally proven Solsum charge controller generation — delivering 8A charge and load current for 12V or 24V solar home systems in the same ultra-compact 145×100×30mm housing, offering a useful step up in capacity between the 0606F and 1010F without any increase in size or weight.

General Description

The Solsum 0808F expands the capacity of the Solsum range to 8A — supporting up to 96W of PV panels at 12V or 192W at 24V — while retaining the same compact footprint, lightweight construction, and proven Steca charging technology that has made the Solsum one of the most widely used solar charge controller families in the world. The serial MOSFET topology with multistage PWM charging ensures thorough and efficient battery care, with boost charging at 14.4V and float at 13.9V for gel batteries (default, adjustable to liquid type via RC100).
Current-compensated load disconnection adjusts the deep discharge protection threshold based on actual load current, providing more accurate and battery-protective performance than fixed-voltage controllers. The four multi-colour LEDs display charging status, battery state of charge, load status, and fault conditions at a glance. With an operating temperature range of -25°C to +50°C and own consumption below 4mA, the 0808F is ideally suited for hot climate off-grid deployments, remote rural electrification, and small commercial applications. Evening and night light functions can be factory pre-set or configured via the optional Steca PA RC100. Made in EU, CE and RoHS certified.

8A — The Ideal Middle Ground in the Solsum Range

The 0808F fills the gap between the 6A and 10A Solsum models — providing 33% more charge capacity than the 0606F and a cost-effective alternative where 10A is more than required. For systems with panels in the 80–192W range, the 0808F offers the optimum balance of capacity and cost in the Solsum family.

Same Compact Housing — More Power

Despite delivering 8A of charge and load current — 33% more than the 0606F — the Solsum 0808F uses the identical 145×100×30mm housing and approximately 150g weight. Installers can standardise on a single mounting and wiring design across all three Solsum models, simplifying procurement, installation, and stock management for large-scale solar home system deployments.
